Disaster Relief Team Travels to Nashville
Larry Harris, Associational Disaster Relief Coordinator, led a team of seven on a mission trip to Nashville, Tennessee, in May. The team worked doing mud-out and cleanup following the historic flood of May 3, 2010. The men removed ruined sheetrock, carpets, and furniture from the damaged homes, with some of the homes requiring stripping to the wall studs. Larry said their team was one of the first teams to arrive. Alabama State Board of Missions coordinates work for Disaster Relief Teams from associations across the state. Larry said, "When we get the call, we go." This is the second mission trip of this year. The team was in Albertville, Alabama, in April following a tornado. Last year, our association sent teams on four mission trips, including Marrion, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia, Bardwell, Kentucky; and Richmond, Kentucky.
